I'll just call it a day

Now all that I want is another shot of espresso...

The new design is not completely done yet, although I have been working on it for the entire evening; approximately 5 hours. Look at this huge mess! it's my signature behavior to cover my work area with materials and notions. Apart from what you can see, there are skeins and balls on the floor, and several huge reference books lying around. Sometimes I myself find it hard to believe ;-).

Now I got an idea. The work-in-progress can be seen in the photo, it's the blue/brown thing with buttons on it. Can you guess what it is?

The first one who provide the correct, or close enough answer will get the octopus bag pattern (in pdf format, via email) for free. Because the pattern for Water Lilies has been written and only needs proofreading and formatting, you can pick that one, too. Water Lilies gloves are also on the table, I'll have to block them tomorrow.

The correct answer will be given on Sunday. By then the WIP should have been finished, and I'll post photos of the FO, so you can check back!

Going to my moka pot! By the way, my favorite is Arabian Mocha Sanani. What kind of coffee do you like?

May 07 Update:

On Knitter's Review Forums, Kim posted her little girl's answer: Peter Rabbit.

My friends, I give you Peter! He is actually a crayon and stationery box, I'm lining him now with calico fabric. I wish to say Thank You to all of you who had played, it's so much fun! Please come back to see Peter as a FO soon ;-).

Have a great day!

Iris

So my first guess is:

a lobster sweater.

And then I zoomed in the picture, and decided that it is

A lobster sweater.

Can I have a second guess?

Okay, I got it -- i thought it was tea pot cozy, but given wha tyou said about coffee, i guess it's a french-press cozy!

yes?

Dear marie-hélène, thank you for your creative answers! It's neither, I'm sorry to say. You can try again!

Wow! This is difficult. I'm going to make a wild guess and say that it's a toilet paper roll cover -- now, don't think I'm completely crazy, because I notice a roll of toilet paper peaking down from the upper right corner. I know this is probably (almost certainly) wrong, but I have been squinting at your WIP/drawing/notes without much luck and wondering if you will be using many more buttons.... oh my gosh, I just had a thought -- is it a garment for your little kingfisher? It could be a little coat and the beak (and face) could stick out the hole.?????

By the way, Aegean is very cute -- I also have recently made an octopus of my own!

Hey Octopus knits, I just jumped to your blog and wow! Love your octopus (so biologically accurate) and your cat! I always want to have a cat in the house myself.
You have observed the photo so carefully...I didn't even notice the paper roll. Actually it was for cleaning up some spilled coffee. So, make another guess please!

P.S. There were SIX buttons in the end.

I think the main clue here is the buttons- they are not merely design elements, right?

This is a coffee-cup cozy/sling, to give your take-out coffee a handle while you carry things to the car. The button-front allows you to put the thing on the coffee cup.

That sounded authoritative, right? It's the size of an iPod cover or a cell phone case, but the buttons, the buttons...

Hey, the bag you want to see is at...http://www.rei.com/product/752377
The photo does not do it justice-- fabric has rich color and a touch of texture, the tiniest shimmer, and it is way comfortable.

Now to figure out how NOT to stuff the thing to the point of hugeness.

Denise your bag really looks perfect! And you are right, the buttons are functional. However, it's not a cozy of any kind ;-).

Looks like a vest or part of a sweater for a doll/stuffed animal to me. Come enter my contest, too.

I think it is going to be a little man-doll.. At least, that's what I think from what I could make out of the sketches under the buttons!

Holy cow! Peter Rabbit? That was a hard one to guess! Very cool....
